PRE/POST TAN CARE
How to properly prepare for your spray tan
- Exfoliate using a chemical or physical exfoliant 2-3 days prior (i.e. AHA/BHA cleansers, dry brushing, exfoliating mitt/gloves)
- Shower at least 12-24 hours prior to appointment. Make sure to shampoo and condition hair before washing your body to avoid any residue that may interfere with spray tan processing. Do not use DOVE, Olay or any type of soap bars, opt for clear body washes.
- Keep skin clean and clear from any product. Avoid deodorant, as it can turn the tan green.
- Be sure to shave/wax 2-3 days prior to appointment. Any manicure/pedicures, hair appointments should be done 1-2 days prior.
- If you are dry skin type, be sure to moisturize and hydrate properly prior to spray tan to be as dark as possible.
- Come in your most comfortable, darkest clothes and shoes. You will not be able to wear socks, tennis shoes, bra, leggings or jeans after your spray tan. Opt for dresses, lounge wear and slides or slippers.
- Avoid wearing jewelry to your appointment.
- I will provide disposable bras and thongs if you don’t want to be completely nude. If you want to bring your own bikini or underwear you may do so, just take into consideration any attire you may wear for an event and the tan lines your bikini may leave. Avoid stringy bikinis, lace bottoms or complicated tops.
Spray Tan Aftercare
- Once it is time to rinse, avoid using any body wash or shampooing your hair. Rinse off in circular motion with your hand to remove any possible bronzer and solution.
- If you are wearing the 8 hour solution, be sure to rinse within 8-12 hours in lukewarm water.
- If you are wearing the rapid spray tan, make sure to rinse at 2 hours for LIGHT TAN, 3 hours for MEDIUM TAN and 4 hours for DARK TAN. Anything over 6 hours can make you orange.
- You may sleep in the solution, but be sure to sleep with long sleeves and pants to avoid streaking or sweaty prints on your spray tan.
- Spray tan contains a cosmetic bronzer that may rub off on light colored clothes, and bed sheets. There is a possibility it may stain if it's not washed right away.
- In order for your spray tan to last, showering with the coldest water you can handle is preferable. If not, lukewarm will do just fine. Hot water and vapors will fade your spray tan faster.
- Avoid excess sweating. If you work out everyday, I would recommend using a tan extender lotion or mousse.
- Any water activities should also be avoided while your spray tan is processing-washing dishes, showering pets and babies, watering plants, gym/exercise, beaches, lakes, pools, jacuzzis, etc.
- Moisturize daily with a water based lotion and stay very hydrated for long lasting results. I always recommend Hempz lotion or tanning lotion!
- Apply SPF daily. Having a spray tan does not protect you from the UV rays.
- Reapply lotion or tanning lotion after being in any pool, lakes or beaches.
- Avoid any mineral based products, perfumes, any alcohol based lotions, oil based products or cleansers.
